[12/18 Thx!] Bushwick Cafe: Next Sneak Peek 1/24

Dec 18 2014: Many thanks to everyone who came to take the 1st sneak-peek at the new place in Bushwick. It is in renovation phase 1 for one more month.

My evening was bright with filled with your curiosity and wonderfulness. Already this is a special space/place “splace”.

Italo, the new lease holder of the storefront space at 895 Broadway, did such a spectacular job hosting. Italo has especially worked triple, quadruple hard to make the space so much more clean and presentable for our event. I think it is important to bring people into the process as early as we can. It’s all so sudden that we have to just do it all at once.

The space had gone through a transformation within a week. There were 8 people working to get the mezzanine down and gut the place for a fresh healthy space. We all went downstairs in the cold space, Italo explained the renovation. Thanks Dan T for sweetening the plans with his practical whole systems perspective.

I want to express gratitude: for DNA, who generously helped me with not only bringing over the presentation elements, art gifts but also providing a bounty of avocados and her guac mastery, for Gordon’s homemade “Anarchy Oatmeal Cookies” and his inspiring drawings, for Zac who brought to the event two bottles of Industry City special beet distillation, for Laura who provided wine and entertained us with an iPod impromptu jam, for John, another new neighbor who brought wine.

And of course, let me not forget to give a warm thank-you for her birthday gifts from Zhenya. who gave me one of her spacial tops by her label Glorka : Simple Style, and Ernesto for an affirmation based on Dec 18.

In the wee hours some of us were still there. Italo snuck out to get a cake for candles—at which point I sank—”oh no, that birthday song”. Is this a global tune, from Russia, Vienna, Chile, Peru, Italy, Staten Island. Anyone know another rendition?

I thank each of theIMG_0579-cherry individuals but by the end of the day, I’m most grateful the coming together of us, of our entwining lives—like a guild of plants—meeting each other, growing around each others shapes, navigating through trajectories, offering support when needed.

It’s you and the little ephemeral moments that I appreciate.

We now have a ground floor space with brick walls and a towering ceiling, uncovered from a deep sleep. It is an opportunity for us all to fill, to nurture little moments like this in our little lives and house our seemingly insignificant presence in a big wonderful “galextual” way. There are more opportunities down the road to get involved, so speak up before the whirlwind begins!
