We have designed a golf hole for the Figment Govenors Island Mini Golf for 2011. The theme is Bugs and Features. We were invited to make a composting mini-golf to go along with our roaming gang of master composters at the Figment Festival this year.

The initial design went through some changes and still will as time marches toward June 10.

The second version is not looking better artistically but it shows more functionality. The revise assignment was to show mechanics not graphics. We will merge the design and mechanics in production to come out visually pleasing. We will be painting more beneficial bugs on it. They didn’t want writing on the platform. They wanted the astro turf. As long as it is used I can use it.. otherwise there must be a greener solution somewhere.

We will have to reduce our 1,000 budget which means we may have to use a plastic rain barrel instead of a wooden wine barrel used… unless someone can donate one. !

They do not want live plants b/c they can get messy and need maintenance. They don’t want soil or anything real in the containers for the same reason. They wont need to be watered with the rain barrel irrigation however plants would need a supervisor in such a high traffic structure.

So there it is. Now to find the ingredients to make it. Deck paint, durable horizontal or vertical compost bin, plus plus. If anyone has any materials that would fit in the schematic please let me know. :) We can use help building it too if your available.
