Seedball.us is the growing evolution of this work. http://seedball.us/ for the complete picture.
Pre-halloween PharmaSeed making at the 44th/8th Ave Community Garden with Chana! The PharmaSeed project is a challenge game for Halloween by seed bomb the coastline created by Anne Apparu. All boroughs get a favorite medicinal plant/flower color. That borough collects the seeds and makes seed balls they through in the other boroughs. Sharing and caring for each other. Ultimately creating our future pharmacy growing around us.
Manhattan’s color is pink, Queens -yellow.. Etc. The challenge is to follow through to have a lot of your color medicinal plants growing all over the city.

We found Pink! Amaranth! And Milkweed Seeds harvested from Smiling Hogshead Ranch.20131109-005934.jpg

Seeking more medicinal pink seeds for Manhattan seed balls. The gardeners here have deadheaded all the flowers with seeds. This is a former asphalted space turned into a wetlands and a green space in LIC

With Chana at the Community play ground on 44th/45th St between 8th and 9th Ave. Teddy and I brought a group of kids together to teach them what the Pharma Seed game is about. They got messy and had a great time. We had a PA system so the people who couldn’t get in edge wise could hear what the kids were saying and learning.  The seeds we used were Milkweed and amaranth both seeds were cultivated and used by the Lenape natives on the island. More about the game for Halloween
So much fun!
