PopSci Day Cont. Bacteria and Waste

Rocket Sewage

Stanford Researchers Developing Rocket-Powered Sewage Treatment System

The scientists are developing a system that exploits sewage-loving bacteria to produce nitrous oxide, which can be used up by a rocket thruster. The nitrous-powered rocket’s only byproduct is hot, pure air.

That is a successive by-product. Meanwhile we should also be concentrating on the source of the problem. Start with our bodies and toilets. Eric Lancaster, sells EM-1, mentions humans taking probiotics which then we expel into the toilet  .. cleaning all the way to the sewage plant. I say use probiotic cleaning products. Others say don’t use water at all to dispose of waste. It should be composted. So some Green buildings are being designed to compost – humanure.
