The Gooey Gross Garbage System

. Here is a visualisation of our food waste from our kitchen through it’s gooey life ultimately resulting in crispy toad prune people. We know when we put our food waste in the garbage it putrefies, smell, attracts rodents and bugs. So we keep the lid closed and wipe it off often (or not). Our kitchen trash cans fill up faster forcing us to take the garbage out every day or two. We know it will be gooey to sort through if something accidentally falls in like a business card or our keys. The bag is heavy and gross –> we have to touch and close a gooey gross bag –> we have to touch the gooey gross bag to pull it out of the container where it gets caught on the side of the container and it tears; thus dripping putrid garbage all over and possibly staining your Italian tiles. –ewwe > the gooey gross bag gets on our hands and clothes –> the gooey gross bag goes to our building’s garbage or our outside to decompose and attract animals > the food waste is heavy and often rips through the gooey gross bag (this is a gross job for us and the garbage person/or super) –> The super has to organize this disgusting mess –> There it sits, stink & rot –> which rats and mice LOOOVE. Yippeee. –> Then the heavy gross bags, full of everyone’s rotting food scraps, gets thrown into big stinky gooey gross garbage trucks. Garbage trucks stink when they are full of the stinky, rotting mess. The heavy goo will hurt the backs of the pick-up people –> the bags will tear more as they are lobbed into the smoosher, spilling in the streets –> pedestrians, skaters and cyclists will careen out of control after they hit these slicks –> Cleaning the mess will be a stinky job no one wants to do –> As the rotting waste goes off to the land fill in growing number of more noisy, stinky, big trucks. The over-sized, out of scale dangerous, often speeding garbage trucks are blind to anything around them and have killed people more than we care to know. The more people, the more food waste, the more goo, the more rats, the more loud trucks –> When trucks miss one day of pick-up the streets are a hazardous disgusting mess. As the gooey, gross, putrid garbage finally makes it to the land fill, it emits methane which is a greenhouse gas. The gas dissipates ozone in the upper atmosphere which filters out the UV light which turns us in to crispy toad prunes.

So when we say we don’t want to separate our food waste… are we enjoying the laboring results of a long time habit had to break.

In Bushwick/Bed Sty call for the cargo bike pick up from High School teens. (jobs) There maybe more services and it’s growing.

The local community gardens have drop offs and the green markets. If you use the bokashi system waste can be trenched to create fertile garden beds.
