I saved up 2 1/2 containers of food waste before I had time to trench it. With compost I would have had to put it in the freezer. I brought the 2 containers of pickled-ness to my plot in the East Village and trenched it. I took out the arugula section for one container and I used the walkway and sitting rock area for the second container.

I dug out both areas. In the arugula area there was no food waste below it (I had trenched there in the fall).

The other bed I found something whole that was growing roots. I whacked it  up with the spade. Otherwise it had all turned to soil.  I added a bucket which had a lot of orange in it. Is not recommended to have a lot of citrus in general.
