In April & May look out for 6 pushcarts on Ave C! Initially proposed for the community by Masters of Beneficial Succession MoBSters to help us beautify the avenue.  Debut is sighted for LUNGS Spring Awakening mid April.

The pushcarts serve the public (us) to invite us to nourish & beautify our streets. Plant one flower or 20. “Go wild.”
Help us make the pushcarts dream come alive. So far we have Grace-Exhibition-Space curators. LUNGS (community gardens group), Campos Garden and MoS Collective.

– name the carts
– the services can change
– The Pushers: manage, set up team, supplies, sells or give away the products and engage the community to beautify the planters.

6 Starting Categories

Phyto, myco, micro, moss, mollusk & me

1. Pushcart Phyto, Flowers: plant flower starts & sell. (Partner Flowers: Campos)
Citizens lay new soil/compost & sell pound bags of soil (Partner Soil Children’s Garden?)

2. Pushcart Myco, Fungi:  installing myco remediation in tree pits & sell mushroom growing kits or mushrooms. (Partner La Plaza?)

3. Pushcart Micro, Mud balls & Bokashi:  bags. (Partner El Sol?). We are out of 1000 mudballs. Maybe to be replaced by El Jardin Del Paraiso.

4. Pushcart Moss, kelp: Kelp amends soil. also a great food. We advocate for a kelp water bioremediation incubator project. A trillion kelp project. TKP

5. Pushcart Mollusk, oysters: Cart to serves oysters for sale. Food vending. It saves  shells for oyster habitat.  The pulverized oyster shell dust is good for soil. Shells make decor or concrete. (Partner El Jardin, BOP)

6. Pushcart Me, healing: plant healing & crafts (Partner EVWC).

7. Pushcart Combo: cart carries paint cans full of bioremediating slurry. Neighbors invited to use this temporary paint/ bioremediating nutrient to paint fish on storm drains & sewers, to paint underground streams. Sell quart jars of ”paint”. (Partner Sempre Verde & H20*, Riverkeeper?)

Imagine

Beautifying Pushcarters for all neighborhoods parked at various community gardens during off hours.  One at each garden or at a host. Potential Rentals offset “parking fees”.

– merchants would rent them for fairs & block parties
– fair merchants would rent them.

⚙️ The Pushcart Build

– Pushcarts must be sturdy, creatively made art that lasts
– Made of excess, salvage

Parts Artisans:
the cargo box arts out of waste plastic bottles made w “Kappino design blueprints”  or found anything.

- Wheel Arts: Maybe w regular bike wheels. Obviously the large wheels are a dream — not in the waste piles of the EV.

Bike Artisans:

Welding artisans: I imagine a “Linus’s welding — EV 3D graffiti sculptor.”  Should all look somewhat approachable, not too weird but artful. This could grow over time,

Mosaic artisans for cargo box if it’s a flat surface. Also possible over time.

Gorgeous!

History… of hpmmmmm

2010-15 learning and using everything we can to live a life that gives back to the earth. A life of Not “leave no trace” but to “leave a better trace”. Permaculture teaches the natural and most abundant way to live as a thriving global society.

We made a connected economy (missing parts but the idea worked and we grew). This is where we cultivated the biophilic lifestyles. We had mudballs & bokashi with Shig, seed balls with Anne & Ted, Mycometeorites with Gil L, and Ann’s egg carton balls, pulverizing oyster shells with Marie A, kelp with Paul M, plant healing by JK.  The exponential restorative economy creates healthy by-products for others to use.

2015 Lifestyles of Bioremediation Gets Wheels.
A first BioBike ride to the Mudball Ball in 2015. Partnered w SHR & Bicycle Utopia. They toured, three seed balls, learned and ended up at the Mudball ball to learn even more about lifestyles of bioremediation and & symbiosis. Biobikes traveled to Mudball Ball & Ephemeral Village from Queens. Great success.

2016 hpmmmmm Estuary Series
Wendy B hooked dd into a biomimicry workshop where she teamed up to design the marina outside the harbor school oyster incubator. She named the project the Hpmmmmm (p is silent). Eve Mosher’s, in our group, said “make the p silent”. Ha. so we can hummmmm so saying it is healing too. Loved that.

2016 hpmmmmm gets wheels
Right after that: dd called together 6 expert teachers to propose BioBikes. (Chana, Shig, Wendy B, Roy A, Rebekah S & myself)

DD presented the the mobile version of The MOS Harbor Phyto Micro Myco Moss Mollusk Estuary Program. Hpmmmmm (p is silent).

We’d offer experiential learning outside for kids. They’d learn about our inseparability from nature. We’d use the MOS Mobs Lobs biosphere tools.  (The masters of beneficial succession’s lifestyles of bioremediation & symbiosis.) Each Cargo bike needs a microscope.

2017 Biobikes adds Biographies

DD continued the journey with her friend who she speaks with often, Chana. She and DD continued to work with Biobikes. She added biographies, story telling, gMail and a postcard. Biographies & Biology. Chana pitched sponsors at bike shows and green exhibitions. Got some bites   They used the same graphic from the BioBike ride to the Mudball Ball in 2015. Chana biked to DC for the climate March and shared her biographies and bioremediation.

2020 Grounded in History

Now for a new version!

From something becomes something.

it’s a ripple toward the BS of AWSS. (Beneficial Succession of Air, Water, Soil & Selves.)

The fancy pushcarts ideas came from wanting something more presentational than a trailer.

Beautifying Pushcarts of Ave C serendipitously We’re a key part of this neighborhood before anyone can remember.  The avenue was mobbed w Pushcarts. (50’s?)

2020 it’s grounded in history!

Many Mini Masters of Beneficial Succession  hosting their LoBS: Lifestyles of bioremediation & strengtgening the symbiotic relationships. They have been an inspiration over the years, adding fodder to the MoS fire.

Why Beautifying?

”It must be beautiful.” That’s one of the 7 Reston principles created after the first village began. Creating bioremediation & symbiosis is a beautifying activity.
